Congratulations, but what next? You now have the freedom and independence of driving alone however it is important to remember some of the responsibilities owning a car involves. Insurance is one of the biggest expenses as premiums for new drivers can often cost more than the car itself.

This is because statistics show that all new drivers regardless of age are more likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their test than at any other time in their driving career.

One way of tackling this is to complete a Pass Plus course with my Driving School. Pass Plus, created by the Driving Standards Agency, is designed for those who have recently passed their driving test. It aims to further develop driving skills and knowledge and therefore encourage safer driving. Under my guidance as your instructor, Pass Plus pupils are given the opportunity to deal with unfamiliar road and traffic conditions and therefore increase their confidence and awareness on the roads, skills that can often take time to develop.

Pass Plus is therefore recognised by many insurance companies and can significantly reduce your insurance premium for your first year of driving. This saving is often much more than the cost of the Pass Plus course itself.

Pass Plus is compiled of six modules which include:

  • Introduction and town driving
  • All weather driving
  • Out of town driving and rural roads
  • Night driving
  • Dual Carriageways
  • Motorways

All six modules must be completed and undertaken in at least six hours of training. The amount of time spent on each module will vary according to individual needs.

The positive thing to remember with Pass Plus is that pupils will not have to take another test at the end of this course as the instructor performs continuous assessment throughout.
